Sidetracked by Vista

I took the plunge last week (I think, I lost track of time) and purchase another notebook ... more power, more gear, new OS.

Yes people are ranting about Vista and all it's flaws, but personally after all this time, I think it is great.

Turn off the glossy stuff and you're good to go.

My biggest concern was the ability to run a PHP/MySQL web server off the machine.

No problems there either.

You can run various flavors of Apache, PHP or MySQL with WAMP .... very cool

Personally I'm still running Sokkit, which is done. XP Home had issues and sokkit was the solution at that time.

Or you could set up PHP, MySQL, Apache manually .... but why?

One click, Five bucks

If you're making that type of money from AdSense, then you've done your research on niche specific keywords and ones that are paying well.

It is possible to make five bucks from one click of advertising on your page, simply need to find where.

For the ones that are offering hosting services, it makes you question whether going through email account set-up, file uploading, database setup, site troubleshooting and more is really worth offering the service for $5 per month.

Planet users on fire

The Planet is a dedicated server hosting provider which operates six large data centers in Texas. One of their Houston-based data centers suffered from a fire last night which has left all servers there temporarily down which means that approximately 7,500 customers can’t access their websites.
